General Information
Arrival
Class starts at 7:30 a.m. It is important and crucial that your child arrive to school on time as this affects instructional time. Any students arriving after 7:45 a.m. will be marked tardy.
Breakfast, Snacks, and Lunch
Students may purchase breakfast at school for $2.25 and lunch for $3.50. Otherwise, please pack your child a healthy lunch to bring to school. If your child is buying lunch, please place money in an envelope with your child’s name and my name, Ms. Knapp, and our Room Number 10. Bring the envelope to the office.
Please send healthy snacks for recess—fruits, raisins, baby carrots, apples, cheese, crackers, popcorn, nuts (if not allergic), dry cereal, etc. Healthy snacks promote better concentration. Please avoid unhealthy junk food and sugary snacks and drinks.
Homework
Each student will have a homework folder that he/she is responsible for bringing to and from school each day. Homework is to be completed and returned in this folder. Please make sure your child puts his or her name on their papers even if it is in the folder. Please ensure that your child brings his/her homework folder to school each day.
Eagle Folder
Each Wednesday, your child will be bringing home a blue Eagle Folder containing class work that he/she has completed. Please look at you child’s wonderful work and encourage your child to tell you what they learned (left side). Always remember to praise their efforts and successes. Ask them what they are still working on and practice any skills they want to strengthen. Also, please check for any important paperwork that may need to be returned (right side). Eagle Folders need to be signed and returned the following day on Thursday.

Birthdays
Books Please!!
Students who would like to celebrate his or her birthday with the class should notify me a few days in advance if you are bringing a book or treats for the class.
If your student brings a book: we will have a book donation ceremony. After we sing happy birthday, she or he will present the book to the class. Then I will do a read aloud of the book before our birthday girl/boy puts the book in our classroom library.
If you choose to bring a treat: Healthy snack choices are the best treats for our students! Some healthy snack choices are: fresh fruit and vegetables, popcorn, jello, crackers, dry cereal, etc. NO SWEET TREATS ALLOWED! Another choice, instead of snack treats, would be stickers, little notebooks, pencils, erasers, etc.
Absences
If you know your child will be absent, please notify the office (408) 522-8263 and myself. Work may be prepared ahead of time for your child to work on. If your child is out sick, you may contact the office and let them know you would like to pick up the day’s assignments.
